It has been decided by the committee and through the questionnaires that were handed back that for 2008 there will again be 3 groups.
Class 1 = Beginners
Class 2 = Intermediate
Class 3 = Advanced
The following rules will be applicable to ALL 3 groups.
1) All entries MUST be labelled on the back of the mount with the authors name, address and the title of the print.
2) The size of the prints will be left to the discretion of the competitor, but the mount MUST not exceed 20 x 16 inches.
3) All entries must be the original work of the author and must only contain original photographs or digital images/created by the author.
4) All entries must be handed in by 7.45 pm on the night of the competition and the judging will start at 8.00 pm prompt.
5) For each class entries will be awarded point as follows:
1st place = 10 points
2nd place = 8 points
3rd place = 6 points
unplaced = 1 point (each print/slide)
6) No images may be used which have previously been entered into any competitions apart from the end of year competitions (December). See item 8.
7) Where there is only one entrant in a competition class, their images will be commented on, but not marked. Marking will only occur where there are two entrants or more when there is only one entrant, each of their entries will be awarded 1 point.
8) From May 2008 onwards only prints up to 12 months old can be used for themed competitions, for open competitions any print can be used regardless of its age. In both cases prints must not have been entered into any previous competition. End of year competitions (December) Prints MUST have been taken between 01/01/08 & 18/12/08 and may have been entered into the previous monthly competitions.
9) Members can enter a maximum of 3 entries each month except for the end of year competition when only 2 entries can be entered, 1 in the best picture of the year, 1 in the best picture taken on a club night & 1 in the best picture taken on a club outing. To qualify for the best picture taken on a club outing the trip must have been organised through the club with a minimum of 4 members going out on the trip.
10) Only fully paid up members may enter the competitions.
11) The committee reserve the right to remove any prints or slides that they feel are not applicable.
12) The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into with regards to the result.
