COMPETITION RULES 2010
It has been decided by the committee that for 2010 there will again be 3 groups.
Class 1 = Beginners
Class 2 = Intermediate
Class 3 = Advanced
The following rules will be applicable to ALL 3 groups.
1) All entries MUST be labelled on the back of the mount or slide with the authors name and the title of the photograph.
2) The size of the prints will be left to the discretion of the competitor, but the mount MUST not exceed 20 x 16 inches.
3) All entries must be the original work of the author and must only contain original photographs created by the author.
4) All entries must be handed in by 7.45 pm on the night of the competition and the judging will start at 8.00 pm prompt.
5) The committee reserves the right to withdraw an entry to a competition or to ask a judge to comment only on an entry
if they believe it to be :-
a. Outside the scope of a themed competition.
b. Offensive in a sexual nature.
c. Depicting images of an explicitly violent or inappropriate kind.
d. Not the submitters original work.
6) No images may be used which have previously been entered into any T.V.P.S competitions except for the end of year competitions (December) See item 10.
7) For each class entries will be awarded point as follows:
1st place = 10 points
2nd place = 8 points
3rd place = 6 points
unplaced = 1 point (each print/slide)
8) Where there is only one entrant in a competition class, their images will be commented on, but not marked. Marking will only occur where there are two entrants or more when there is only one entrant, each of their entries will be awarded 1 point.
9) Only photographs taken within the previous 12 months for a themed competition date can be used in that themed competition, for open competitions any photograph can be used regardless of its age. In both cases photographs must not have been entered into any previous T.V.P.S competition.
10) End of year (December) competitions
The "Best Shot of the Year" Competition entries must have been taken during that year.
The "Best shot on a Club Night" must have been taken during that year at a club night.
The "Best Shot on a Club Trip" must have been taken on an officially club organised outing during that year.
Any entries to the end of year competitions may also have been entered into any of that years previous T.V.P.S competitions, members may only enter one photograph into each competition category.
11) Members can enter a maximum of 3 entries each month except for the end of year competition.
12) Only fully paid up members may enter the competitions.
13) The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into with regards to the result.
14) If a competition is postponed the committee reserves the right to make alternative arrangements.
